The Bible; Mary & Mary Magdalene

Help, I've fallen into the Jesus Christ Superstar/Bible fandom and can't get out. I just have a lot of feelings for these characters. Not to mention the fact that making this gave me ideas for another Jesus/Judas/Mary mix. Seriously, it's a problem. This is intended as a sequel to the previous bible mix I made, but I suppose it can work on it's own. Young!Mary is still Chilina Kennedy, older!Mary is Lindsay Wagner. for waywardmixes round 11: mythology.

✙ This mix is about the Marys. Mary, Jesus' mother and Mary Magdalene his friend, lover and fellow member of vague polyamorous relationship. The inspiration came from listening to my school's choir sing 'Mary Speaks' a wonderfully set poem about Mary Sr's experience and feelings at the crucifixion. In my head, Mary Magdalene meets the older Mary at the crucifixion where they are both stricken by grief. Mary has lost her son, and Mary Magdalene has lost the two people she loved most in the world. They become each other's healing process. Mary gets a daughter, another child and Mary Magdalene gets a mother, a friend. I like to believe that Mary wouldn't really care about Mary Magdalene's job choices, I feel like being loved by and important to her son is enough for Mary not to judge her (also I wanted to unite the original virgin-whore dichotomy because fuck that shit). They become a surrogate family, and where society might not deem them worthy or important, they are to each other.

This mix is the sequel to Stoic Minds & Bleeding Hearts.

Wow, what a great idea for a mix. Your last JCS mix actually got me to listen to a cast recording and I really want to see it on stage now. This mix is just as gorgeous as the last one and I love that you used Empty Chairs at Empty Tables for Mary Magdalene.

It's really fantastic on stage. I'm quite biased though because the production I saw added things to infer more Jesus/Judas/Mary than the production has. It's still there in the text of the play, but I love some of the staging and blocking choices the version I saw made to emphasize the relationship.

i'm sorry *hugs*. It just felt perfect for her and then I found the female cover on youtube and in my head it sounds like she's singing it. It highlights her mind space at the beginning splendidly. It also to me points out that she was a participant in what they wanted to accomplish and not just an observer.
